A farm in the Wharfe valley
Wharfedale runs from the high Dales down through Ilkley and Otley to Wetherby, and Fairmead Farm sits on its southern side above Pool in Wharfedale. From the glamping fields you look across the river to Almscliffe Crag, with the Chevin ridge behind you and red kites overhead.
It is lower Wharfedale rather than the National Park, which is what makes it work for groups: Otley's pubs are 5 minutes away, Ilkley Moor is 20, Leeds and Harrogate are each half an hour, and the Dales proper start at Bolton Abbey, about 30 minutes up the valley.
Three exclusive-use glamping areas sleep 2 to 40 guests in furnished bell tents. Hot showers, a licensed Bar Barn, wood-fired pizzas and a Party Barn for hire mean you can stay on the farm all weekend, or use it as a base for the valley.

Wharfedale from the farm gate
Otley, 5 minutes
A proper market town with a riverside park, Saturday market and more pubs per street than most. Kayak and paddleboard hire on the Wharfe in summer.
The Chevin, 10 minutes
Chevin Forest Park has waymarked walks, mountain bike trails and bouldering, with views the whole length of the valley from the top.
Almscliffe Crag, 10 minutes
The gritstone crag you can see from the tents. A short, steep walk up for the view, or a day of climbing for those who know what they are doing.
Ilkley Moor, 20 minutes
The Cow and Calf rocks, the moor itself and Ilkley's cafes and shops below. Bolton Abbey and the Strid are another 15 minutes up the valley.
